What we do

Crown reductions, hazardous removals, stump grinding and 24/7 storm response, with insured crews, rigging over roofs and a raked-clean yard when we leave.

Tree pruning

Deadwood removal, crown thinning and clearance from roofs, wires and driveways.

Crown reduction

Reduce height and spread with proper cuts back to healthy limbs, never topping.

Tree removal

Sectional removal with ropes and rigging, lowered piece by piece over houses and fences.

Stump grinding

Stumps ground 6 to 8 in below grade, with chips raked into the hole or hauled away.

Storm and emergency service

Fallen trees off roofs and driveways, hanging limbs made safe, day or night.

Hedge trimming and assessments

Tall cedar hedges trimmed square, and tree health and risk checks before you decide.

How it works

How it works

  1. Free assessment

An arborist looks at the tree, its health and what's around it, and tells you what it actually needs.

  2. Written quote

A fixed price that lists the work, clean-up, stump grinding and wood handling, plus any permit.

  3. Work day

The crew protects your lawn and garden, rigs and lowers limbs, and chips the branches on site.

  4. Clean-up

We rake, blow driveways and leave the wood cut to firewood length or haul it away.

About us

Care for the trees, care for the yard

Oakhollow is a tree service with two climbing crews and an arborist who visits every job before it's quoted. We'd rather prune a healthy tree than remove it, we rig limbs down over roofs instead of dropping them, and we lay ground mats so our equipment doesn't rut your lawn.

  • Insured Crews and equipment
  • Clean-up Included on every job

What customers say

★★★★★They took down a big spruce right beside our garage in pieces with ropes. Not a scratch on the roof and the lawn looked untouched.
Kevin J. · Rigged tree removal
★★★★★The arborist talked us out of removing our maple and did a crown reduction instead. It looks healthier than it has in years.
Alice W. · Crown reduction

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Many areas require one for trees above a certain trunk size or on protected lots. We check the rules for your address and help you apply before any work starts.

What's the difference between topping and crown reduction?

Topping cuts limbs off at random heights and leaves the tree weak and sprouting. A crown reduction cuts back to healthy side branches, so the tree keeps its shape and heals properly.

When is the best time to prune?

Late winter, while most trees are dormant, is best for structural pruning. Dead or hazardous limbs can come off any time of year.

Is stump grinding included?

It's listed as a separate line on every removal quote, so you can choose. We grind 6 to 8 in below grade, which is deep enough to lay sod or plant a garden bed.

What happens to the wood?

Branches are chipped on site. We can leave the trunk cut to firewood length, leave the chips for your garden, or haul everything away.

What should I do after a storm?

Stay away from any limb touching a power line and call the power utility first. For trees on roofs, cars or driveways, call our storm line and a crew will come out.
