Services

Concrete and paving services

Concrete driveways, exposed aggregate, stamped concrete and interlocking pavers, built on a dug-out and compacted base.

Concrete driveways

Old driveway broken out, 8 inches of compacted base, rebar, and a broom or smooth finish with saw-cut control joints.

Exposed aggregate driveway

Concrete with the stone washed to the surface for grip and a textured look that hides tire marks.

Stamped concrete patios

Patterns like ashlar slate and cobblestone, coloured and sealed, for patios and pool decks.

Interlocking paver driveways

Pavers laid on compacted gravel with edge restraint and polymeric sand, easy to repair one piece at a time.

Walkways and steps

Front walks, side paths and poured or block steps, with a slight slope so water drains away from the house.

Repairs and lifting

Sunken pavers re-levelled, cracked sections cut out and replaced, and broken steps rebuilt.

About us

It's all in the base

Stoneroot has poured and laid driveways around Your City for 16 years. Most driveways crack or sink because of what's underneath, so we dig out, lay and compact the gravel base in layers, and grade it to drain before we pour or lay a single paver. The owner measures every job himself and stays on site the day we pour.

Reviews

What customers say

★★★★★They dug out far deeper than the last company did. Three winters on and the exposed aggregate hasn't cracked.
Brian C. · Exposed aggregate driveway
★★★★★The stamped slate patio looks like real stone, and the slope sends water away from the house now.
Elena M. · Stamped concrete patio
★★★★★Our front walk had sunk and was a tripping hazard. Now it's flat and the edges are clean.

FAQ

Common questions

How long before I can drive on new concrete?

Walk on it after 24 hours and drive on it after 7 days. Keep heavy trucks off for 28 days. We'll give you the exact dates for your pour.

Concrete or pavers?

Concrete costs less up front and is lower maintenance. Pavers cost more but don't crack across the whole surface, and a sunken section can be lifted and re-laid.

Why does concrete crack, and will mine?

All concrete shrinks as it cures. Saw-cut control joints tell it where to crack, so the lines stay neat and out of sight. A proper base and rebar keep the slabs from shifting.

Do you remove the old driveway?

Yes. Breaking out and hauling away the old asphalt or concrete is included in the estimate.

Should I seal my new concrete?

We recommend sealing exposed aggregate and stamped concrete every 2 to 3 years. It protects the colour and helps against salt in winter.

When is the best time to pour?

April to October, when overnight temperatures stay above freezing. We book the pour date around the forecast.
